Online 3D Club
After-School Program for Children Ages 10-13
Online 3D Club offers a unique and fun way for children to learn 3D modeling and printing. Children will design their own projects, and we will print them in Geneva and send them to you by post.
Details of the Program
Experience hands-on 3D-modeling and 3D printing, design your own projects and receive them 3D printed.
Schedule
Thursdays
17:30-19:00
Support Hours
If you have questions concerning usage of the software or have technical challenges, we are happy to assist
3D Printed Projects
All the projects will be delivered to you by post in the end of each month
Going Beyond:
Your child can design up to 10 other projects during the trimester and we will print them as well
3D printing gives children a sense of accomplishment by allowing them to create their own models and designs. This course introduces them to the exciting world of digital arts and creativity, fostering their imagination and technical skills.
Course Curriculum
Lesson 1: Personalized Keychains
In this lesson, students will be introduced to the basics of Tinkercad by designing personalized keychains. They will learn how to navigate the interface, use basic tools, and incorporate text and simple shapes into their designs. This project helps students understand fundamental 3D modeling concepts while creating a functional and personalized item.
Lesson 2: Simple Jewelry Design
Students will delve into the world of jewelry design by creating rings, pendants, and bracelets. They will explore how to use various shapes and patterns to create intricate designs. The lesson will cover techniques for adding details, ensuring proper sizing, and preparing their designs for 3D printing.
Lesson 3: Bookmarks
In this project, students will design unique bookmarks with customized shapes and cut-out patterns. They will learn to combine and manipulate basic geometric shapes to form their designs. This lesson emphasizes creativity and precision, allowing students to create functional yet decorative bookmarks.
Lesson 4: Pencil Topper
Students will design playful pencil toppers in this lesson, choosing from shapes like stars, animals, or initials. They will learn how to create a cylindrical base that fits a standard pencil and add decorative elements. This project encourages creativity and practical design skills.
Lesson 5: 3D Puzzle
This lesson involves creating a 3D puzzle by designing individual pieces using cubes. Students will learn about proper dimensions and alignment to ensure the pieces fit together correctly. They will use Tinkercad’s alignment and grouping tools to virtually assemble their puzzle, enhancing their understanding of spatial relationships and precision.
Lesson 6: Custom Phone Stand
Students will design a functional and decorative phone stand, exploring stability and ergonomic design. They will learn to create a sturdy base and incorporate aesthetic elements like shapes and patterns. This lesson combines practical engineering with creative design.
Lesson 7: Simple House
In this introductory lesson to MagicaVoxel, students will learn the basic tools and interface of the software. They will create a simple house model, step-by-step, focusing on foundational 3D modeling skills and customization with colors and textures to enhance their design.
Lesson 8: Detailed Landscape
Students will design a detailed landscape, incorporating terrain features such as hills, valleys, and water bodies. They will add elements like trees and plants, learning how to use MagicaVoxel’s tools to create a realistic environment. This lesson emphasizes creativity and attention to detail.
