Description

This flight focused maker camp introduces children aged 7 to 12 to the principles of flight through hands on building, testing and gradual progression towards controlled RC aircraft. The programme starts with simple throwable gliders and rubber band planes made from cardboard and lightweight materials. Children explore balance, lift and landing through repeated testing and small design improvements. Wind powered flight is introduced through kite building, helping children understand how air movement, tension and structure influence stability. These observations are then carried into more advanced projects. From midweek, children begin working with simple RC planes, first focusing on structure, weight distribution and safe straight flight. Turning and directional control are added step by step, allowing confidence to grow naturally. The final day brings teamwork and refinement, with group flight sessions and coordinated challenges. Water rocket launches run alongside the flights, offering an exciting comparison between different propulsion systems. Throughout the camp, children work with real tools and materials in a structured, supportive environment. The focus remains on learning through making, observation and thoughtful experimentation rather than performance or speed.
