Lesson 1-1: Students will start their space lessons by assembling and coding Tricky models. Tricky will be used for cargo transportation challenges. The goal of the challenge is to move objects from a starting point to the space gate. For this challenge, we designed a unique map. The further is the gate, the more points students get.
Lesson 1-2: Let’s imagine that we are in space, as we know there is no airspace and it is not possible to just talk like on Earth. Let’s develop several options for communication. The first is with cups and string. The second is with gestures. The third with a Micro:bit microcontroller. We split into teams and send messages between the teams. We will analyze which method of communication is best for communication in space or on another planet.
Lesson 2-1: Moving cargo is always difficult, and if you need to move them to another planet – it’ s a task that only real engineers can do. Working in teams, synchronizing your actions, with the help of several Lego robots we have to move the cargo to the base.
Lesson 2-2: Another planet is always something undiscovered. You never know what can happen. Today we’re going to create a computer game called Alien Invasion. There will be a galactic ship that will protect the planet from invasion.
Lesson 3-1: The landscape on another planet is different from that on Earth. With the help of the computer program MagicaVoxel, the child can design and build his or her own extraterrestrial landscape.
Lesson 3-2: Light is needed everywhere and anytime, especially in deep space where it is always dark. Using a Micro:bit microcontroller. We glue the lamp together and adjust the brightness of the light. Using the buttons on the microcontroller we will learn how to send Morse code signals to the luminaire..
Lesson 4-1: Warm breezes make summer the perfect time to fly a kite. A tetrahedral kite is made up of triangles connected together to make pyramids. Connect several pyramids together and watch this unique kite soar as you learn about the forces of flight.
Lesson 4-2: There might not be sources of drinking water on an alien planet. And most of the water will have to be brought from our planet. But what if the water gets dirty? In this lesson we will learn how to purify water with filters. We’ll build our own charcoal filter and purify the water.
Lesson 5-1: In order for a rocket to fly well, it is important to design and assemble it correctly. The children will use plastic bottles to build a two-module rocket, think of a parachute landing system, and take the rocket home with them at the end of the day.
Lesson 5-2: What makes rockets fly straight? What makes rockets fly far? Why use water to make the rocket fly? Students are challenged to design and build rockets from two-liter plastic soda bottles that travel as far and straight as possible or stay aloft as long as possible. Teams design for maximum distance or hang time; adding a parachute is required.
